Most of the time, lenders will want to steer you to refinance your loan, but by the time you are a few payments behind, you probably don’t qualify for a decrease in your interest rate.

Negotiating with the bank is like running a marathon, after a marathon, after an iron man. You have to be relentlessly persistent. You have to be willing to let your pride go out the window. You’re going to have to call, call again and again and again, fax, and email. When you feel fed up and think ” they are not cooperating with me” you’re going to have to swallow It and call again. Never, ever be rude. Try not to come across as needy, but try to get as much help from anyone in a position to help as possible. Explain your situation, offer supporting documents, and reassure the lender that you want to live in your home for the long term.

Pretty much if you have only missed a handful of payments, sometimes your loan company will just add the sum of your missed payments back onto your balance. It’s all about the cash with your mortgage provider. Request their assistance so that you can pay them what you owe. They will not need to be reminded that they’ll end up doubling the money they lent you. If they have to sell your property at a foreclosure auction, they’ll take a huge loss.
