You are going to have to call, call again and again and again, and email. When you feel fed up and think ” they should be working with me” you’re going to have to swallow It and call again. Never, ever be rude. Try not to come across as anxious, but try to get as much help from anyone in a position to help as possible. Explain your situation, offer supporting documents, and reassure the lender that you want to live in your home for the long term.

If there’s no way “on heaven or earth” you could be forced to leave your home, then bank on the fact that most banks can be flexible. Sometimes they will be willing to add a few months of bank loan payments back onto the primary balance of your loan. It is all about the money with your mortgage company. Ask them for their help so that you can pay them what you owe. They won’t need to be reminded that they’ll end up earning 2x the money they lent you. Banks aren’t in the business of losing profits, so they are remarkably reluctant to foreclose on your house… they’d wind up incurring a big loss. They would prefer not to do it.

That sounds obvious, but for some reason lenders seemingly forget it when they say no to a homeowner in crisis.
