Explain the situation, offer supporting documents, and reassure the bank that you want to live in your house for the long term.

If “come hell or high water” you have no plans of leaving your house, then bank on the fact that most banking institutions can be amenable. Sometimes they will be willing to add a few months of mortgage payments back onto the balance of your loan. It is all about the cash with your loan company. Request their help so that you can get them what you owe. They won’t need to be reminded that they will end up making twice the money they lent you.. If they have to sell your house at a foreclosure auction, they will take an enormous loss.

It sounds obvious, but for some reason lenders apparently, forget it when saying no to a homeowner in crisis.
